Thoth is the ancient Egyptian deity of wisdom, writing, magic, and the moon, often depicted as an ibis-headed man or a baboon. As the inventor of hieroglyphs and divine scribe, he recorded the judgment of souls in the afterlife. Recognized as a creator god and messenger, he upheld cosmic order (Ma'at) and was worshipped as the patron of scholars and scribes.
